In Out of the Storm, you can’t just cut down any tree and burn it. The living ones are too wet to burn and pines take at least six months to dry out. (Hard woods take even longer) Val doesn’t have time to watch wood dry so it’s up to you to find something useful. In this case, dead trees.
These pines have dried up long ago and are perfect for burning for warmth, light, and cooking your food. You’ll start the game with some firewood but it will run out soon. Finding these trees is essential though the odds are nearly sixteen to one when it comes to finding living or dead trees. Not only that but once you find one you have to cut it down and find a way to get it back to the cabin.
